Battle is a new card type that will appear in upcoming set.

History

Battle was teased in the 2023 set Phyrexia: All Will Be One, when it was listed as a card type on the card Atraxa, Grand Unifier. This is similar how the planeswalker type once was hinted on Tarmogoyf in Future Sight.

Speculation

It is speculated that Battle might be related to the unpublished Skirmish mechanic that was considered for War of the Spark.[1]
