He assisted Konda with the ritual of ripping That Which Was Taken from the spirit world, the crime that started the Kami War. It is hinted that Meloku could have been the one who suggested this to Konda to start the long-term plan of the soratami that should have ended with them taking over the whole of Kamigawa.
