After Yawgmoth had taken control of many parts of the Thran Empire the enemies he had made during his exile and the Thran city-states that opposed his rise to power formed an alliance against him. This Thran Alliance consisted of dwarves, minotaur, cat-folk, elves, viashino, the barbaric humans of Gulatto Meisha and the Thran city-states Chignon, Losanon and Wington.

The Alliance won the following Thran Civil War, but at a great cost, as Yawgmoth had bombarded several cities with stonechargers and many thousands of people were killed in battle or forced to join Yawgmoth in Phyrexia, where they were twisted into mindless minions.
