Alpha is the first released set of Magic, including 295 cards, released in 1993.

Alpha is unique for several reasons. Its card borders much "rounder" than any other set. Volcanic Island and other cards that were meant to be included in the set were somehow never printed.

Alpha cards are fairly rare as they had a small print run and did not receive much exposure outside of the West Coast.
