Triple strike is a theoretical static ability which has been discussed by R&D, but has never been printed. Mark Rosewater tried to put Triple Strike into Future Sight on a future-shifted card and was stopped by the Magic rules Manager at the time, Mark Gottlieb, due to rule rewriting issues.[1][2]
Description
Triple strike allows a creature to deal combat damage during both the First strike, the normal Combat Damage Step and the Last strike. The problem with this mechanic is that it is hard to implement in the rules without doing a lot of rework.[3]
Despite the concerns with the rules,[4] Mark Rosewater still hopes to use the mechanic in a future set.[5]
