Duel Decks: Jace vs. Chandra is the second set in the Duel Decks series. It was released on November 7, 2008, with an MSRP US$19.99.[1] A Japanese-language-only re-issue of the Duel Deck was released on December 3, 2010, with an MSRP of US$19.99.[3] The reissue featured Jace Beleren and Chandra Nalaar with holographic foil treatment and anime-inspired alternate arts, illustrated by the Japanese manga artist Yoshino Himori, who illustrated the Japanese adaptation of The Purifying Fire novel by Laura Resnick.
Jace vs. Chandra contains two preconstructed theme decks, one centered around Jace Beleren and the other around Chandra Nalaar, featuring cards from the previous 15 years of Magic. Also unlike Elves vs. Goblins, which were tribal theme decks, Jace vs. Chandra were decks with a slower control deck with counterspells and a fast aggro strategy with burn spells, respectively.

Background
Jace vs. Chandra is loosely based on the webcomic Fuel for the Fire, in which Jace and Chandra fight for possession of a magical scroll containing a map with the location of a powerful fire spell.[5][6][7]
Chandra utilizes her powerful fire magic, while Jace employs potent mind magic and illusions to great effect. It is later revealed that the scroll leads to the Eye of Ugin on Zendikar.
Much later, in the webcomic Awakenings,[8] Jace and Chandra arrive at the Eye at almost the same time. This time, however, they team up and use the spell Ghostfire to defeat Sarkhan Vol.[9]
