Wording

"There is a total of n cards that involve xxx, which divide by color as such: "

???

What about "There is a total of n cards that feature or involve xxx. The breakdown, by color, is as follows:"?

Merge miscellaneous effect/mechanics articles?

I think we should do that rather than create an article for everything.

There's an argument that we should have a gazillion articles so that pages don't become long but I think that's a fallacious and poor argument as articles don't become long and, even if they were to become long, we'd reasonably break them up as appropriate (e.g., into individual pages and chuck a {{Main}}, into A—L and M—Z listings, whatever).
