More damage than a creature's toughness

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like this page is a huge opportunity for clarifying what happens when a 5/5 with lifelink is blocked by a 1/1.

Anyone who is learning about lifelink would assume that the 5/5's owner gains 1 life, because where would 4 more life come from?

It should probably be clarified that the 5/5 still deals 5 damage and that the life gained is the amount of damage dealt, therefore 5 life gain.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kumesana (talkcontribs).
