Withengar, or Withengar Unbound, is powerful demon lord from the plane Innistrad. He is infamous for slaying Saint Traft, among others. Once, his essence was imprisoned in a magical blade called Elbrus.
The Saint, the Geist and the Angel
Prior to the events of the Innistrad set, the Skirsdag cultists led a monster slayer named Saint Traft into a trap. As a result, Traft inadvertently summoned Withengar and was killed in battle. The demon's victory did not last long, since Innistrad's angels vengefully attacked him and destroyed his physical body. Unfortunately, Withengar did not die, but reverted to pure black mana and would eventually be reincarnated.
Dark Ascension
Withengar had been reincarnated by the events of Dark Ascension and developed a great desire for revenge. At some point, he attacked a town. Withengar's fate is currently unknown.
