A cockatrice. Art by Dan Frazier.

Cockatrices are flying creatures that can turn their enemies to stone, much like basilisks. They have lithe, feathery, serpentine bodies with the head of a bird, two legs, and two wings.

A cockatrice was once summoned by Jared Carthalion when he was inside Castle Melmereth. It both killed and was destroyed by a clockwork avian.

Another cockatrice was contained inside an Apocalypse Clock.
