"Vanilla" is a slang term that refers to creatures with no rules text (i.e. Scathe Zombies).
The term "french vanilla" refers to creatures that only have a keyword ability (i.e. Anvilwrought Raptor).
The term "virtual vanilla" refers to creatures that are essentially vanilla after the first turn they enter the battlefield (i.e. Augur of Bolas).
The therm "virtual french vanilla" refers to creatures that are essentially french vanilla after the first turn they enter the battlefield (i.e. Armada Wurm).[1]
Trivia
- Muraganda Petroglyphs is the only card that rewards vanilla creatures for having no abilities.
