Adjusted Match Points (AMPs) are an award system for Magic: The Gathering professional tabletop play, introduced in the 2022–23 Pro Tour Season.[1] It is the current system's performance tracker, succeeding the League Points of 2020 and the World Championship Qualifying Points of 2021.
Description
Adjusted Match Points reward players with high finishes over the previous three rolling Pro Tours — even across seasons — who didn't quite qualify for the Pro Tour. While a player who goes 10-6 in all Pro Tours they attend will have an invite for top performance, such a feat is difficult to do consistently.
Adjusted Match Points are the number of match points earned in a Pro Tour after a player's first nine points. This allows players who can regularly reach Day 2 of competition (twelve points to qualify) to slowly accumulate progress. Additionally, players who make the Top 8 will be granted sufficient points to make 39 for the event, granting them two invites for reaching the elimination rounds. This makes for a much more streamlined system for calculating invitations, with previous systems of Pro Points, Mythic Points, Player Points or League Points all producing mismatched thresholds for players.
Players who finish with a total of 39 or more Adjusted Match Points across the previous three Pro Tours will qualify for the next Pro Tour. AMPs count the previous three Pro Tours held, not the previous three a player attended. It also rolls over every three events, regardless of season. The general math for invites is 19 wins over two events and 22 wins over three events.
The following records can expect an invite to the next Pro Tour:
- A player who reaches the Top 8 of one Pro Tour with 12 wins. They would already have their Top Performing invite, and even with a failed second Pro Tour the extra 12 points would put them at the requisite score for their third Pro Tour.
- A player who has the records of 11-5 and 8-8 over two Pro Tours. The 11-5 record will grant them their next event, then their threshold for another invite is lowered.
- A player who has a record of 8-8 three times. They would need two invitations through other means but will be rewarded for their steady work with their fourth invite.
The Magic World Championship does not award AMPs.
