Besides race, most Magic cards with humanoid creatures also have another creature type: the class represents their career or calling in life. This is known as the model.
Separate page for the Ainok?
Note that the Magic approach is somewhat different from the scientific one. In biology, the basic unit of biological classification and taxonomic rank is ‘’species’’, which is defined as a group of organisms capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring. In biology, races are distinct genetically divergent populations ‘’within the same species’’ with relatively small morphological and genetic differences.
So the Ainok have been affected by the relatively recent re-categorization of all cards of the creature type Hound into creature type Dog. However, similar to how the Moonfolk are inspired by rabbits but are not overtly rabbit-like, the Ainok seem inspired by dogs but are not overtly dog-like.  As a number of races maintain separate pages on the wiki, including Moonfolk, it seems reasonable to me that the Ainok also be given their own page; the interesting situation of their categorization (given that no Ainok cards have so far been printed with the "Dog" subtype though this may change in the future) can be included in the new page's trivia section as well.

Humanoid races
In addition, I would propose changing the short descriptions of Moonfolk and Ainok on this page to be "inspired by rabbits" and "inspired by dogs" respectively, rather than "part rabbit/dog" as the former appears to be more accurate in their specific cases. (There may be other races that fit the "inspired by" rather than "part" description, though I may have overlooked them at the moment.) --Webspidrman (talk) 01:03, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Separate page for the Ainok?

Thank you, and I appreciate the approval; it's good to get other opinions before I barrel ahead with a major change! Still, I'll see if I have the time to make the articles myself, as it may be a while. Editing pages is one thing: I am a good writer and I can more easily squeeze time in for editing existing articles anyway, but I am not experienced in page creation despite being a long-time proof-reader of articles for the wiki at this point. The part I am most uncertain about is how we are ascertaining the various statistics for the colors (as per my comment in Edit 1) relevant to any given page's category of cards that we then display on the page. I'm sure there is a preferred resource/website/method for retrieving this data. Scryfall?--Webspidrman (talk) 03:40, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
