Mite is a creature type for cards that depict small parasitic arachnids that may infest animals, plants, and stored foods and may transfer phyresis.
History
Mites first appeared as both a creature type on colorless 1/1 tokens with toxic in Phyrexia: All Will Be One, always as Phyrexian Artifact creatures and with Skrelv, Defector Mite as the first legendary mite in the game from the same set.
A slightly earlier card, Haywire Mite from The Brothers' War had insect as creature type. It is as yet unknown if this card will receive errata.
