Niambi is a middle-aged Speaker of Femeref from Dominaria.
Description
Niambi is the daughter of Teferi and Subira, wife of Denik, and mother to Kequia and Mabutho.[2]
Now a wise woman with lovely features and strands of gray threaded through her long braids, she is an accomplished healer and cleric of the sun-worshipping Femeref faith.[1][3]
History
Niambi was born about a decade after the Mending, and grew up in Femeref, formerly a province of Teferi's lost homeland of Zhalfir. Her keen mind helped keep the Femeref together, which allowed for a deeper understanding of their lost traditions and homeland.[4] She became a Speaker for one of its provinces.[2] Speakers play an integral role in reciting the rights and rituals of the dead, ensuring the spirits of those who have passed on are blessed properly and solace is brought to their loved ones.
Of the many wayward souls she has tended, Niambi considered her father her first and most important charge.[5] A brilliant mind in her own right, she helped Teferi solve the many puzzles that the planeswalker Urza had left behind.
During Sheoldred's invasion of Dominaria in 4562 AR, she provided medical aid to the nomadic tribes in Jamuraa.[6] She used her magical abilities to interpret dreams and influence minds to convince Magistrate Teshunda of Femeref to grant refuge to the Efravan refugees.[2]
