Satyr is a green and red creature type used for cards that depict carefree woodland beings, represented as part human, part goat, which are noted as lovers of pipe-playing, wine, and lovers. They are ready for every physical pleasure.
History
For most of Magic's history, the only cards to bear the type were Willow Satyr from Legends and Lumbering Satyr from Mercadian Masques. However, the Theros block introduced satyrs as a tribe. Some bleed into red, in contrast with the previous mono-green satyrs.
Storyline
Theros
On Theros, satyrs are hedonists that worship the god Purphoros, associated with creativity, artistry, and passion, and that occasionally honor Nylea, goddess of the forest and the hunt.[1] Theros satyrs are depicted as playful, benevolent joyful beings by the populace, but in reality, they are mischievous, malevolent hedonists that engage in violent revelries and enslave humans lured into their hedonistic cults. Unlike the satyrs from Greek mythology, they are both male and female.
