Xerex is a plane that features enormous underground passages with Escherian reality - or physics bending effects - and kaleidoscopic geometric features.[1]

History

Phyrexian invasion

Next-to-nothing is known about Xerex before the Phyrexian invasion; most factions of Phyrexia — save the Etched Host — made an incursion onto the plane.[2] The result was a failure not by any form of concerted defense, but because the nebulous reality in Xerex was too alien for the literalist Phyrexians to comprehend.[3]

Inhabitants

Trivia

  • Xerex was first (and for a long time only) shown on the Planechase 2012 card Stairs to Infinity.
  • Tying with the plane's mathematical style and aesthetic, its name, "Xerex", is a palindrome.
  • In April 2023, shortly after the release of March of the Machine, Mark Rosewater held a poll on his Tumblr account[4] asking which plane featured on a battle in the set players would most like to see return in a premier set. Xerex was the winner, with 27% of the vote.
